Michelle is qualified in all areas of Makeup Artistry, including glamour,
fashion & theatrical makeup, makeup for the film & television industry,
runway and photo shoot makeup, airbrushing, body painting, temporary tattoo
application makeup and the design and application of special effects and
prosthetic makeup.

Glamour Makeup
Glamour Makeup Artistry services are available to clients of all ages and
backgrounds and are suitable for photography work such as glamour portraits,
casting photos and portfolio photographs. This service is fully mobile
so Mish Mash Makeup can come to you at your home, hotel suite, photography
studio, or on location. Michelle is also available to stay throughout the
photography shoots to complete touch ups or a change of makeup, if so desired.
Michelle is capable of creating all desired looks, from a soft and subtle natural look through to the highest level of glitz and glam. The glamour makeup services can be altered to match your desired look and Michelle devotes considerable time to speaking with you about your makeup visions before she commences to ensure you are pleased with the services and get the best possible photos from your shoot. If Required, Michelle can also provide basic hairstyling services in addition to the Glamour Makeup Service.
Bridal & Special Occasion Makeup
Special occasion makeup can include anything from a night out on the town
through to birthday parties, formals or bridal makeup. The makeup service
is fully mobile so that Mish Mash Makeup can provide the convenience of
coming to you in your home, hotel suite, hair salon (where arranged prior
with the salon owner), or function area.
For bridal or special occasion makeup Mish Mash Makeup offers a no obligation
trial service, at minimum cost. This unique service allows for you to pay
minimum cost for a trial service, and then have this payment deducted from
the total amount due for makeup services on the day of your event.
As an additional wedding service, Mish Mash Makeup also offer a stay for
touch up service, or a stay for a change of makeup service for the reception,
if so desired.

Mish Mash Makeup also utilises the product “Model in a bottle” (as seen on The Oprah Winfrey Show & Tyra Banks Show) which assists in waterproofing and smudge-proofing your makeup to ensure the longest lasting results.
Fashion and Catwalk Makeup
Mish Mash Makeup is available for high fashion makeups, often desirable for
runway shows or in magazine work. The fashion makeup can be tailored to complement
specific locations, hairstyles, or fashion trends, and can be as standard
or wild as you require. Michelle has experience in this sector of the industry,
having completed fashion makeup for runway shows for fashion design and hair
competitions, as well as for photography shoots for international fashion
label previews and print advertising.
As part of this service Mish Mash Makeup is available to stay throughout photography shoots or runway shows to do backstage makeup changes or touch-ups, and has experience in completing quick transformations between looks, often changing the models looks within only minutes.
Theatrical Makeup (stage and theatrical
themed events)
Theatrical makeup artistry services are available for a number of occasions
that may require this look, such as makeup for stage shows, parties,
theatrical restaurant performances, or Halloween.
Michelle is trained in the specific application methods required to
counteract the strong lighting and other factors used in theatrical
productions, and has also worked extensively in creating special occasion
looks such as gothic or fantasy makeup. Due to her artistically related
background Michelle is also able to help in the creative design process
for your desired look and work with you to bring your idea to life.
Film Makeup
As a graduate of The Frampton Institute of Cinemagraphic Makeup, Michelle’s
specific diploma course was aimed primarily at the film & television
industry. Due to this Michelle has extensive knowledge in the film industry,
in regards to both the makeup application itself, the accompanying skills
required, and the protocol within the industry. Since graduation Michelle
has worked as a key makeup artist on many short films, as an additional makeup
artist on multimillion dollar feature films, and as the third in charge of
a makeup department. She has also worked under the direction of many highly
reputable makeup artists in the industry, such as Cassie Hanlon, Lynne O’Brien,
Carol Cameron, Shay Lawrence and Nikki Gooley. Due to this hands on experience
and direction from the industry greats Michelle has received ongoing training
and gained many valuable skills in addition to those acquired during her
college studies.
Michelle is also completely capable in related tasks such as completing script and character breakdowns, deciphering shooting schedules and call sheets, and keeping records such as department time sheets, continuity records and product inventories.
Television Makeup
Television is another sector of the industry which was addressed extensively
within the Michelle’s Diploma Course. As with the film industry she has
gained valuable skills regarding the application and maintenance of television
makeup, as well as relevant practices such as script breakdowns and on
set protocol and procedures. Since graduation Michelle has completed work
in the television industry, including music video clips, information videos,
and pilots for television series.
Advertising / commercials Makeup
Mish Mash Makeup is also available to complete makeup artistry services for
various types of advertising, including print work and television commercials.
These services can be booked for a full day, half day, per hour, or per
face. This service can include basic natural makeups as seen in many commercials,
through to high fashion makeup or special effects. Michelle is has experience
in both print advertising and television commercials, and is available
for in studio or on location work in this sector of the industry.

Video Clip Makeup
Video clips are another sector that can often require innovative makeup artistry
work. As with commercial work, Mish Mash Makeup can be hired for a full
day, half day, hourly, or per face for work in video clips. Michelle has
worked in many different styles of video clips and understands that these
clips are designed to enhance the musical creation. As such, Michelle is
dedicated to working closely with the artists to perfect the desired look
for each clip and help create an overall video hit.
Special Effects Makeup
Special effects were a major focus of Michelle’s studies at The Frampton
Institute of Cinemagraphic Makeup. These ranged from basic special effects
such as bruising and scars, through to more advanced specialties such as
the design and application of facial hair, cuts, disease, burns, bullet
wounds and other extreme injuries. Michelle has also designed and created
several effects in addition to those she was taught at the Frampton Institute
and is happy to work in con junction with others to create individual and
unique effects that differ from those which are commonly utilised. In addition
to this Michelle has also studied the design, creation, application and
removal procedures for prosthetics, which are described in more detail
below.
Casting and Prosthetic Makeup
Michelle has trained in many aspects of prosthetics, from taking the original
cast, through to designing and sculpting the desired piece, and the eventual
final application of the design.
Michelle has been trained in the use of alginate to cast the desired body
part, Plaster of Paris to create a replica mould of the area, clay to sculpt
the desired piece over the model, Plaster of Paris to cast the prosthetic
shape and is experienced in the use of various products to fill the mould
and create the finished piece. Michelle is also knowledgeable in all correct
application and removal methods for the prosthetics, which minimises the
chances of any skin irritation or reaction that may be caused and ensures
a well applied piece.
Airbrushing
Airbrushing is a technique used to give a flawless look to the skin, which
is often implemented during editorial makeup artistry services. This application
involves a liquid foundation being pressure pumped through a small air
forced gun and leaving a mist of product on the surface of the face. Through
her studies at The Frampton Institute Michelle has gained competency in
this service and can happily provide this application method when it is
preferred. Her airbrushing techniques can also be applied to body painting
to create a stunning work of art which visually differs from that of a
hand painted design. Uniquely, Michelle’s airbrush also has the option
of battery operation and a shoulder strap, allowing it to be easily transported
and used on set or on location, unlike the standard mains operated airbrushes.
Body Painting
Michelle is also able to provide body painting services, and has experience
in painting using a sponge, paintbrush or airbrush, and implementing freehand
or stencil application methods. In the past Michelle has been involved in
body painting for her Medusa-inspired piece, and for the 2007 Miss F1 Supergirl
Contest Final Judging, which took place on the Gold Coast in 2007. Her airbrushing
work can also extend to the body area. In 2008 Michelle also completed the
highly acclaimed “Wolfe Brothers Face & Body
Art Workshop”, which came to Australia for the fist time and has greatly
added to Michelle’s list of unique services she has on offer.
Tattoo application
Temporary tattoo application is another service provided by Mish Mash Makeup.
These tattoos are applied using an alcohol activated product that does
not remove with simple soap and water. Depending on the size and placement
of the design, these temporary tattoos can last up to 4-5 days and can
come in many convincing colours. The life expectancy of temporary tattoos
can vary depending on several factors, including the amount of natural
oils in your skin, exposure to heat, and whether the body part to which
it is applies endures excess rubbing caused from clothing or body movements.
If you wish to have the same tattoo for a longer period of time we can
also create a re-usable stencil of your design, so that the exact pattern
can be perfected during each application. Michelle takes pride in her application
method which gives the appearance of the tattoo actually coming from beneath
a layer of skin, as real tattoos do.
Tattoo covering
During many special occasion events Mish Mash Makeup has had clients wanting
to cover tattoos in visible places on their body. This service is particularly
popular with brides on their wedding day. Due to popular demand Michelle has
researched the options available for this and perfected a technique which assists
in covering the tattoos and creating a bare skin finish. The success of this
service is of course dependant on the size and nature of your tattoo (i.e.
placement and colourings) and a trial must be completed prior to the event
day. All tattoo covering services are POA.

Hairstyling Services
While Makeup Artistry is the specialty service of Mish Mash Makeup, intermediate
hairstyling services are also available. Michelle has completed Certificate
II in Hairdressing, as well as a professional development workshop in hairstyling
for the film & television industry, as conducted by reputable hair and
makeup artist, Gail Kane.
Michelle comes equipped with an accompanying hair kit in addition to her
makeup supplies, and is available to provide hair services such as straightening
and curling hair, applying appropriate products to achieve the desired look,
up styling, and styling to suit different eras etc.
In 2008 Michelle also completed 3 of the reputable Sharon Blain Hairstyling courses, including “Introduction to long hair styling”, “The Burlesque workshop” (through Goldwell Education) and the “Long Hair Masterclass”.
Lessons
Michelle is also available to give makeup lessons, which can be conducted
in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
Lessons can be custom designed to cover the areas of makeup application that suit you best, from perfecting basic day makeup, through to creating high fashion looks for special events or nights out on the town.
The lessons will cover choosing the best products for your skin and tools for applying them, as well as some tricks of the trade and industry secrets.
The makeup sessions can include demonstration and the opportunity to have a try using Michelle’s products, or can consist of demonstration only, depending on your personal preference.
Special effects lessons can also be provided and will be quoted on POA, depending on the desired content and depth of your lessons.
